- Made in engine.lol for the 3x3 Jam Week 2 -

- CONCEPT & IDENTITY -

We wanted to utilize the embedded spatial narrative of engine.lol to play with the purpose of the Carlton room divider: to take one space and separate it into others. We wanted to have the player take a big, empty space, and compartmentalize it through their choices. How do they see the space of possibility? And how will that change their experience?

Each designer took a section of the engine and had creative freedom to make it as unique and different as possible - creating a divided design, connected inside of one experience. Read below for insight into each division:

- Top Row (designed by Zechariah Chapman): A camcorder-inspired recording of a "chained existence" that cannot be seen or heard (or both, but is not real). A representation of my experience with schizophrenia.

- Middle Row (designed by Zach Devine): A playful take on the concept of compartmentalization, or "playing with space". A depiction of the connection between game design and interior design, and a reflection on how we play with the literal and figurative spaces in our lives.

- Bottom Row (designed by Josa Wolf): A narrative inspired by the man-like appearance of the Carlton Divider. A story seeking to contextualize the unusual appearance of the divider, give "Carlton" a personality, and maybe even hint at evil?
